Jake Shears admits: “Wow, I’ve slept with a lot of people!”

#JakeShears appeared on  Late Night with Seth Meyers  last night to discuss his recently released self-titled solo album and his February 2018 memoir  Boys Keep Swinging . During the discussion, the 40-year-old artist admits that while writing his memoir, “I realized what a whore I’ve been over all the years.” Shears continues, “You think you’re fine and you think you’ve lived this normal life, and then you get it all down on paper and you’re like, ‘Wow, I’ve slept with a lot of people.’ There are a lot of thank yous in the back.” Shears’ memoir is apparently divided into three sections covering Shear’s childhood, his adventures with Scissor Sisters and his life in New York from 1999 onward. During his convo with Meyers, Shears reveals that he started his career in entertainment by being a go-go dancer (something  he has discussed before ). “It was so much fun,” Shears tells Meyers. “I loved the attention. I loved getting up on a bar and taking...

Ariana Grande's New Kanji Tattoo Is An Unfortunate Mistake

#Kanji #Tattoo #ArianaGrande To celebrate her newest single “7 Rings,” pop star Ariana Grande got a kanji tattoo. Unfortunately, it’s wrong. Grande posted a photo of her tattoo. In Japanese, it reads, 七輪 (shichirin). You can see the pic photo (via Grande’s official Japanese Twitter ), which has since been deleted from her Instagram. The kanji character 七 means “seven,” while 輪 means “hoop,” “circle,” “ring,” or “wheel.” However, when you put them together, the meaning is different! 七輪 (shichirin) is a “small charcoal grill” and not “seven rings,” which is written differently in Japanese. Here is a shichiri n: アリアナが七輪のタトゥー入れてる笑 pic.twitter.com/9Jj4Fs2hIE — at (@aoi80550747) January 30, 2019 There is even an English language Wiki page for shichirin. The shichirin is a lightweight, compact, and easy-to-move cooking stove. Charcoal is chiefly used for the fuel. Shichirin are said to be made in roughly the same way today as in the Edo period.[1] Old shichirin are mainly cer...

‘Suits’ Creator Confirms Meghan Markle Is Unlikely To Return For Final Season

#MeghanMarkle # AaronKorsh # GinaTorres It would have been a major coup for Suits to secure a guest appearance by Duchess of Sussex (and original cast member) Meghan Markle for its upcoming ninth and a final season, but as series creator Aaron Korsh had indicated in a Deadline interview last week, that probably won’t happen. He reiterated the sentiment at TCA today while promoting the upcoming Suits spinoff Pearson starring Gina Torres. “I would love it, but I think it’s pretty close to zero,” he said of the odds of Markle coming back, noting that the show is “not currently pursuing asking Meghan to leave her position with the royal family and join us.” He later told Deadline that this was out of respect for the former actress and her new royal duties. “We love her, we wish her well but I don’t think that’s happening.” by Nellie Andreeva • January 29, 2019

R.I.P. Award-Winning R&B Singer James Ingram Dies At 66

Two-time Grammy winner James Ingram, whose signature timbre instantly evokes the classic R&B sound of the 1980s, has died. He was 66. Ingram's passing was announced on Twitter by the actress Debbie Allen. "I have lost my dearest friend and creative partner James Ingram to the Celestial Choir," she  wrote . "He will always be cherished, loved and remembered for his genius, his love of family and his humanity. I am blessed to have been so close." When he was 18, Ingram joined a band called Revelation Funk and tried to make it in Los Angeles, the  Chicago Tribune  reported  in a 2012 profile. Comparing himself to his bandmates, Ingram underestimated his own vocal abilities. "I knew I couldn't sing," he said. "I wasn't trying. I was just doing background." After the band broke up, Ingram stayed in L.A. and got great backup gigs, working with Ray Charles and Marvin Gaye. He would sing and write demos at a studio on Sunset...

Aquaman is now the biggest DC comic movie of all time

#Aquaman #JamesWan All hail the King of Atlantis: Aquaman is now officially DC’s top-grossing movie worldwide. The underwater spectacle was treading water in the number two spot earlier in January, but thanks to another major weekend around the world, Jason Momoa’s superhero vehicle has reached a $1.09 billion worldwide total. That splashes past the $1.085 billion mark set by Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, making the movie DC Comics and Warner Bros. top-performing superhero adaptation. Though Aquaman now tops the DC charts, the James Wan-directed film is only the seventh top-grossing film comic book movie of all time. The top six are all Marvel Cinematic Universe titles, including Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man 3, Black Panther, then the three Avengers films taking the top three spots of the worldwide box office (Infinity War, first Avengers, and Ultron in that order, if you were curious). When it comes to the domestic box office, however, Aquaman still sta...

Black Panther Makes History with SAG Awards Win — Is an Oscar Next?

#SAGAward, #BlackPanther #Marvel Black Panther is proving to be one of the films to beat this awards season. The Marvel film took home the statue for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture at Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. It also made history as the first superhero movie to take the award. Black Panther beat out A Star Is Born, BlacKKKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Crazy Rich Asians. Chadwick Boseman accepted the honor on behalf of his cast, thanking the director and “genius” Ryan Coogler. “We all know what it’s like to be told there’s not a screen for you to be featured on, there’s not a stage for you to be featured on,” Boseman said. “We know what it’s like to be the tail and not the head. We know what it’s like to be beneath and not above.” “And that is what we went to work with every day because we knew, not that we would be around during awards season and that it would make a billion dollars, but we knew we had something special that we wa...
