The Notoriously Rule-Bending Rockets Whined About The Refs In Their Loss To The Lakers

#HoustonRockets #LosAngelesLakers No NBA team has less of a right to complain about refereeing than the Houston Rockets, given how its two biggest stars have bought property in the gray areas of the rulebook. Chris Paul is a notorious flopper and instigator, while James Harden is James Harden, flailing his way to the line a million times per game. And yet. Both Paul and Harden complained audibly about the refereeing in Thursday night’s 111-106 loss to the Lakers, with most of their whining aimed at 20-year veteran official Scott Foster. The two Rockets stars fouled out, with Harden committing a comical four offensive fouls, three of them in the second half, including the one that got him thrown out with 1:24 remaining in the game and the Lakers up by six. Watching all of Harden’s fouls, you could only really argue against his third, and that’s only if you judge Harden by superstar levels and not what would get called on everyone else in the league: James Harden calls out NB

Josh Hart says he’s ‘overshadowed’ by rest of young Lakers core

#JoshHart has been solid for the #Lakers since being drafted 30th overall in the 2017 #NBA Draft, this year especially. With the exception of a few rough outings related to a nagging ankle injury, Hart has been one of the most impactful two-way players on the roster. According to NBA.com, the Lakers have a net rating of +6.5 with Hart on the floor and -2.9 net rating with him off of the floor. However, despite his success in his role, Hart told Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times that he still feels like he doesn't get the same recognition as his teammates that were drafted around the same time as him: “I think I’m still overshadowed,” Hart said this October. “Just because last year we had Zo, BI [Brandon Ingram], Kuz and like the young core … now you …so much, big personalities with the team. So I’m not, I like to have fun on social media and stuff like that but I’m not the crazy big personality that draws a whole bunch of attention.” This isn’t the first tim

Rockets and Lakers brawl in LeBron James' LA debut and one video appears to show Rajon Rondo spitting on Chris Paul

A brawl broke out at the Lakers-Rockets game on Saturday night, with Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, and Brandon Ingram all eventually being thrown out of the game. The Rockets contest that Paul was provoked by Rondo when the Lakers guard spit in his face and have provided the league with video to support their case. Suspensions are likely to be announced soon for all three players. LeBron James first game as a Laker in Los Angeles did not go according to plan. With just four minutes remaining in Saturday night's game between the Lakers and Houston Rockets, a fight broke out as tensions between guards Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo boiled over. Punches were thrown, and James was forced to shift from playmaker to peacemaker, helping to separate and de-escalate the brawl. Paul, Rondo, and Ingram all threw punches and were all ejected after the referees stopped the game to break down how to allocate punishments after the dust had settled. Replays show the inciting incidents between

LeBron James Is Already Winning Hollywood

As he prepares to debut with the L.A. Lakers, the NBA’s biggest star has emerged as one of the town’s hottest producers, setting up a dozen film and TV projects and starring in a new ‘Space Jam’ as he sounds off on Serena Williams (“I feel that struggle”) and becoming a Trump Twitter target: "What bothers me is that he has time to even do that." It's a Wednesday in early September, and LeBron James — newly minted Los Angeles Laker, $1 billion Nike endorsement juggernaut, noted Trump repudiator — is folded into a golf cart whirring across the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank. Shouts of "LaaaaaBraaaan" and "Welcome to L.A.!" pierce the air. Here, where star sightings are routine and treated with studied indifference, the 6-foot-8, 250-pound James is a different story. Strangers ask for selfies, tell him how thrilled they are that he's in town and divulge their hopes that he'll revive what was once the NBA's most glamorous franchise. James, 3

LeBron, In A Lakers Uniform, Doing LeBron Stuff

The Los Angeles Lakers opened their preseason Sunday in San Diego. Who cares! I don’t care. The NBA should shut up for at least another couple weeks. Did they win? Who were their opponents? Who led them in scoring? Don’t care! On the other hand, LeBron James logged his first (exhibition) game action as a Laker. It didn’t count as a basketball game, but it did count as an opportunity to work on getting used to the sight of LeBron in a Lakers uniform. It still looks  weird . Looks kinda weird! James played 15 minutes in the first half, then sat out the rest. The bounce pass to Ingram is filth; the effortless, laser-accurate outlet to Josh Hart is classic LeBron; the hairline looks pretty dece. For now. By Albert Burneko, deadspin.com
