‘Fleabagging’ and three other ridiculous 2020 dating trends

#Fleabagging #Dial-Toning #WhiteClawing #Caspering The advent of dating apps and digital communication is still a brave new world — and this decade already has fresh names for the new ways people are dissing each other in the pursuit of love and sex. Ever since Charlize Theron  helped bring the concept  of “ghosting” into the mainstream in 2015, trendy words for the ways we can snub would-be, has-been and current lovers have evolved into an entirely new language. Here are four of the most depressing entries in the 21st century dating dictionary: Fleabagging To serially date people who just aren’t good for you. This latest one is inspired by Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s acclaimed BBC series “ Fleabag ,” in which the creator and actress can’t stop dating men who are a bad fit for her. One example:  a “hot priest .” Match dating expert Hayley Quinn tells  Cosmopolitan  that the trend is self-inflicted, explaining that “someone ghosts you, whereas you fleabag yourself.” Dial-Toning

Sign o’ the Times (Super Deluxe)

#Prince #Signo’theTimes  #PurpleRain  #Wendy  #Lisa #TheRevolution Sign o’ the Times   is probably the most complete exhibition of   Prince ’s talent. Almost every style he’d attempted up to that point in his career is presented in its most clarified and uninhibited form. It’s also one of the leanest-seeming double albums of all time—not a note across its four sides registers as indulgent or out of place. But the very notion of “place” is a complicated one on Prince’s masterwork; the sessions that produced the record lasted over a full year and were intended for multiple unrealized projects and albums. The songs themselves sometimes hail from even further back in time, closer to the beginnings of Prince’s career, when he was still exploring the slender shadow-space between funk and new wave. Which is why it might be helpful to think of the  original 1987 release of  Sign o’ the Times  as more of a network than an album—a small reservoir of music filled from many disparate sources. No w

Where Did the Doughnut Actually Originate?

#Doughnut #Dutch #DunkinDonuts Beignet . Zeppole. Puff puff. Oliebol. Whatever you call it, and wherever you are in the world, you’re sure to find some form of fried dough snack unique to that region and culture. Here in the U.S., it’s doughnuts (a.k.a. donuts)—and, boy, do we love them. Since 2011,  doughnut  sales have steadily increased, and industry revenue topped $16 billion in 2015. That’s a lotta dough! (Sorry, I can’t resist a good  bun  pun.) So, where did doughnuts originate, and why are they so darn popular? Were Doughnuts Born in Britain? For as long as human beings have been cultivating grain and frying food, we’ve been eating something similar to doughnuts. According to Michael Krondl, food historian and author of “ The Donut: History, Recipes, and Lore from Boston to Berlin ,” the  ancient Greeks and

The Power of Authentic Self-Esteem

#HealthyRelationships #selfesteem What does it mean for someone to be truly authentic? And how many people do you know actually fit that description? Do you feel that you’re authentic? Let’s take a look at what this word truly suggests and just what blocks us from achieving authenticity. Naturally, the word authenticity evokes an image of something pure or unadulterated. A letter of authenticity confirms that a certain object or work of art is not a counterfeit. The act of authenticating is a process of determining that something is indeed genuine, as it is purported to be. Experts receive training to authenticate precious objects, memorabilia, and documents, among other rare items. Yet we have no such method for ascertaining the authentic nature of people. Short of being caught in a bold-faced lie or transgression, methods of determining an individual’s authenticity often go unexplored. One’s authentic nature is revealed in their ability to express and share what they think or f

Why Creative People Are So Complex : The Many Faces of the Performer

#Creativity #Performer #Extrovert #Introvert #Personality  Recounting his recording sessions with the young Michael Jackson , famed record producer Quincy Jones remembers that "Michael was so shy, he'd sit down and sing behind the couch with his back to me while I sat with my hands over my eyes -- and the lights off." What a contrast from his onstage extroverted, charismatic and bold performance! In the CNN.com article " The confusing legacy of Michael Jackson ," Todd Leopold discusses the perplexing combination of seemingly contradictory traits displayed by Michael Jackson. In explaining his many sides, Jackson biographer J. Randy Taraborelli essentially throws his hands up in the air in exasperation as he tries to make sense of the apparent contradictions: I think that when you're talking about Michael Jackson and you try to analyze him, it's like analyzing electricity, you know? It exists, but you don't have a clue as to how it works.
