Let Kristen Stewart Explain Why ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Needed A ‘Grounded’ Reboot

#Reboot #CharliesAngels #EllaBalinska #KristenStewart #NaomiScott Kristen Stewart is reporting for “Charlie’s Angels” duty (heels optional, we imagine) and she’s already teasing what we can expect from a reboot that at least some people are excited for. The “Twilight” alum, along with actresses Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska, have been cast as the crime-fighting trio in the upcoming feature film, directed by Elizabeth Banks, about “the next generation of Angels.” While Lucy Liu, star of 2000′s “Charlie’s Angels” and its sequel, has already given the reboot her blessing (“It will only be a more positive result for women,” said Liu), Stewart knows that fans are protective of versions they’ve seen on screen before. “It is not maybe everyone’s immediate response that it would be, like, something we would have to see again because the one I grew up with was so much fun, and you know, the re-imagining is so grounded and well-intentioned and really shows the way women can work toge

ABC has passed on two of its buzziest pilots, Get Christie Love and For Love.

Kylie Bunbury and Lex Scott Davis  #ABC #Drama #GetChristieLove #KylieBunbury #LexScottDavis #Reboot #TeresaGraves While they were never considered frontrunners, trade publications reported both to be in contention for pickup.  Of the two,  Get Christie Love  (toplined by  Pitch  star Kylie Bunbury)   seemed like a good chance. A reboot of the 1974 blaxploitation TV movie and short-lived series of the same name, its original star, the late Teresa Graves, was the first black woman to star in her own hour-long drama series. This would not happen again until  Scandal  with Kerry Washington, which wrapped last month after seven seasons .  The nod here would have been great. The pilot was a passion project for  Power  showrunner Courtney Kemp, and Vin Diesel and Debra Martin Chase were executive producers. The series would have also starred Khandi Alexander.  For Love  had a unique premise starring Lex Scott Davis as a headstrong journalist. "Suffering from a great tragedy, b

Why The Charmed Reboot Pilot Is Worse Than The Original

Nostalgia can often make us view older TV shows through rose-tinted glasses, but the original 1998 pilot episode of Charmed really does hold up, especially when compared to the pilot episode of The CW's recent reboot . Both shows focus on a trio of sisters - the Halliwells in the original show, and the Vera/Vaughn family in the reboot - who discover that they are witches with powerful abilities and a grand destiny. The original show ran for eight seasons and starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano (with Rose McGowan joining later), while the new reboot stars Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffery as Macy, Mel and Maggie , respectively. The road to the reboot's premiere wasn't entirely smooth, with Combs commenting that while she appreciated the new opportunities creates by the show, she couldn't see what was "fierce, funny, or feminist in creating a show that basically says the original actresses are too old to do a job they did 12

‘Halloween’ Review: A Slasher-Movie Reboot for the #MeToo Era

Jamie Lee Curtis and director David Gordon Green gives us the one true sequel to the game-changing 1978 original Want to scream bloody murder? Then the new Halloween is the trick-or-treat frightfest for you. But, first, a leap of faith is required. You have to forget that there are already nine sequels and remakes of John Carpenter’s 1978 original — thankfully, director David Gordon Green and coscreenwriters Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley pretend those lame copies never existed (no loss there). To them, Halloween 2018 is the first sequel ever to Carpenter’s horror classic. It’s been 40 years since babysitter Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) got rocked by PTSD when the masked killer Michael Myers rampaged through the leafy streets of her hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois. And in the years since, the Final Girl has turned herself into Bloody Grandma, a rabid survivalist who’s booby-trapped her house and stayed rifle-ready until the day Michael — the essence of pure evil — breaks out

"Charmed" premieres Sunday, October 14th at 8pm, after "Supergirl" on The CW Stronger together.” That’s what Marisol (guest star Valerie Cruz) tells her daughters, firebrand social justice warrior Melanie “Mel” Vera (Melonie Diaz), and her sister, fun-loving Maggie (Sarah Jeffery), about their family. Mel is a graduate student in the women’s studies department her mother heads at HilltownE University; Maggie is a freshman considering sorority rush (to Mel’s amused dismay) and going “on” again with her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Brian (guest star Charlie Gillespie). But then, a shocking tragedy shatters their world and threatens their sibling bond: Marisol dies in a horrifying accident. Or was it? Three months later, we find Mel unable to accept the official explanation of their mother’s death, while Maggie accuses her of being morbidly obsessed. And then, another huge shock shows up at their front door: they have an older sister – brilliant geneticist Macy (Ma
