KU lands 1st five-star recruit Bryce Thompson

#Kansas #KU #Jayhawks #NCAA  Five-star guard Bryce Thompson announced his commitment to Kansas on Tuesday morning, giving the Kansas Jayhawks their first five-star recruit since the 2018 class. Thompson chose Kansas over a final four that included in-state programs Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, along with North Carolina. At different times in the last few months, there were different frontrunners in his recruitment. The Jayhawks were always a contender, and Bill Self has known the Thompson family since coaching Bryce's father, Rod, at Tulsa -- but the NCAA hitting them with a Notice of Allegations earlier this fall raised some questions. Oklahoma had been involved, and Thompson took two official visits to Norman. The strongest push down the stretch came from Oklahoma State, which was hoping the commitment from No. 2 senior Cade Cunningham last week would put the Cowboys over the top. Thompson went to both Oklahoma State and Kansas last week unofficially, and also met with c...

Auburn and Kansas will begin Saturday at approximately 8:40 p.m. CT on TBS, it was announced Thursday night. The second-round game is set to be the final one of Saturday in the NCAA Tournament, providing Auburn coach Bruce Pearl his wish from earlier in the day when he hoped for more hours to rest after playing five games in the last eight days. Auburn survived a furious comeback attempt by No. 12 seed New Mexico State to win 78-77 Thursday. It was the Tigers' fifth game in eight days. Kansas advanced with a 87-53 demolition of No. 13 seed Northeastern on Tuesday afternoon. “It is one game, and certainly, you know, sets up a game in which we ha...

Gonzaga pulled off what some considered impossible, stopping the Duke juggernaut in the Maui Invitational title game without one of its best players. Now the Zags are No. 1 again. Third in last week's poll , Gonzaga leapfrogged No. 2 #Kansas to the top spot in The Associated Press Top 25 released Monday. The Zags received 32 first-place votes from a 65-person media panel, edging the Jayhawks by one. No. 3 Duke received one first-place vote despite losing to Gonzaga in Maui and No. 4 Virginia the other one after winning the Battle 4 Atlantis title. No. 5 Nevada has its highest ranking ever after winning the Las Vegas Invitational, with Tennessee, Michigan, Auburn, Michigan State and Kentucky rounding out the top 10. Gonzaga (6-0) is missing do-everything forward Killian Tillie for the first two months of the season because of an ankle injury and was a big underdog heading into the Maui title game last week. Duke (5-1) and its cache of lottery-pick freshmen were an unstopp...

Kansas Basketball and winning go together like bread and butter. In 2018, the Jayhawks are yet again expected to win a ton of games. In a survey put on by CBS Sports, more than a hundred coaches were asked who they thought was the best team to take the court this season. The Kansas Jayhawks were undoubtedly the favorite.
