DC Universe premiered the first two episodes of its original show Titans last night at New York Comic Con, and while the show won’t officially launch on the streaming platform until October 12th, the company announced that it has already renewed the show for a second season. Titans  is the first of several live-action TV shows that DC will launch on its new streaming service. A darker take on the classic Teen Titans superhero team, it follows Dick Greyson and Raven as they team up with Starfire and Beast Boy to foil a plot that threatens the world. PHOTO ILLUSTRATION BY SARAH ROGERS/THE DAILY BEAST Disney acolytes and Zendaya fans alike got quite the surprise earlier this week, when  rumors  surfaced that the former child star and Disney darling had been offered the lead role of Ariel in the upcoming live-action adaptation of  The Little Mermaid.  The original report implies that casting Zendaya could be a major step for inclusivity in Disney films—since Zendaya is biracial, it’s likely that other actors of color would be cast to play members of her mer-family.
