KU still awaiting official visit from ‘dangerous’ jump shooter Bryce Thompson

Blue-chip basketball recruit #BryceThompson, a 6-foot-4, the 180-pound junior combo guard from Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Okla., has embraced a new NCAA rule that allows juniors to take official campus visits. Thompson, the No. 65-rated player in the recruiting Class of 2020 by Rivals.com, whose dad, Rod, played for Kansas coach Bill Self at Tulsa, has completed official visits to Colorado, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. He’s made unofficial visits to Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and also has Tulsa, TCU, and others on his list of schools. “It’s always good up there. You know Coach Self. What he does speaks for itself. I got to see Late Night in the Phog and all of the crazy fans, so it was good,” Bryce Thompson said in commenting to Rivals.com on his late September visit to KU. Thompson — he’s not yet set a date to visit KU officially — has been called “one of the most dangerous jump shooters in the Class of 2020,” by Eric Bossi of Rivals.com. He

Payless Opens Fake Luxury Store, Sells Customers $20 Shoes For $600 In Experiment

#Payless’ recent marketing campaign tricked fashion influencers into paying significantly more for a pair of affordable shoes. The retailer created a new store, called #Palessi, as an experiment to see just how much fashion-forward people would pay to have high-end shoes. Influencers, professionals that inspire consumers to make purchases based on their expertise, were invited to attend a grand opening for “Palessi” — a new high-end designer. Those that attended the exclusive party paid between $200 and $600 for Payless shoes that typically run up to $40. Payless, as Palessi, sold $3,000 worth of shoes in hours within the opening. “I would pay $400, $500,” said one influencer. “People will be like ‘where did you get those?'” Other influencers remarked on the look of the shoes, the quality of the material, and were overall impressed by the Payless shoes. The discount shoe company “wanted to push the social experiment genre to new extremes, while simultaneously using it t

‘Daredevil’ Canceled By Netflix After 3 Seasons; Future In Other Marvel Projects

EXCLUSIVE: The ax continues to fall on Marvel’s series at Netflix. #Daredevil, which launched the #Marvel universe on the streaming platform, has been canceled after three seasons. The move comes on the heels of Netflix canceling Iron Fist and #LukeCage last month. “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix,” the company said in a statement to Deadline. “We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and an incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.” The cancelation of Daredevil comes a month after its t

Quincy Jones Has Accomplished So Much That Even Netflix’s Documentary About Him Can’t Capture It All

At 85 years old, #QuincyJones is one of the most influential people in the history of recorded music, yet I would guess that, in 2018, many casual music fans would be hard-pressed to explain what exactly he actually did. Jones’ name has been legendary in music circles for more than half a century, but much of his résumé consists of terms and vocations that are now obsolete, at least as far as mainstream pop is concerned. He was a trumpet prodigy who befriended Ray Charles and joined Lionel Hampton’s band while still a teenager. Before turning 30, he’d become one of the most in-demand arrangers in the biz and the musical consigliere to Frank Sinatra. By the 1970s, he was the quintessential superproducer and “record man,” an indefatigable hit-maker and general entertainment-industry Svengali. He did all this even before he began a collaboration with ex-Motown star Michael Jackson that would reach its apex in 1982 with  Thriller , the most commercially successful album ever made. And
