Here's the Real Reason Why Heidi Klum Left 'Project Runway'

#Heidi Klum #ProjectRunway #TimGunn #AmazonPrimeVideo Project Runway returned to TV on Thursday after a year and a half off the air and a (second) network change. But the 17th season of the beloved competition show will be missing a major player: Heidi Klum. A true fashion icon, Heidi helped to create Project Runway and served as a judge, host, and executive producer for all 16 of its original seasons. So understandably, her seemingly sudden departure has fans wondering: Why is Heidi Klum leaving Project Runway at all?!  As it turns out, Heidi isn't leaving fashion TV entirely. In fact, she and her Project Runway costar Tim Gunn are both launching a brand-new project with Amazon Prime Video.  "After 16 incredible seasons, I am saying 'Auf Wiedersehen' to Project Runway, a show that I was honored to host and help create," Heidi announced back in September 2018. "I'm most excited that my journey with my dear friend and colleague, Tim Gunn, is far f

Can Project Runway Make It Work Without Tim Gunn?

#ProjectRunway #Heidi Klum #TimGunn #ChristianSiriano #KarlieKloss BY JUDY BERMAN MARCH 12, 2019 Around nine minutes into the series premiere of Project Runway, which aired way back in December 2004, a star was born. Dressed for academia in a navy sport coat, khaki pants and wire-rimmed glasses, Tim Gunn, then the 51-year-old chair of the Parsons fashion design school, greeted his mentees in a warm baritone that would become TV’s most comforting sound. He uttered his first “make it work” soon after, followed by a round of critiques in which he showed even his most difficult pupils remarkable patience. By the finale, Gunn was an icon of empathy, grace and good taste—a role that yielded several book deals, a C-suite job with Liz Claiborne and nearly 15 years as the heart and soul of the show that made him famous. So it was jarring to hear, last fall, that Gunn and host Heidi Klum were leaving Runway—which was also slated to return to its original network, Bravo, after 11 seasons on

'Project Runway' is leaving Lifetime for Bravo. But can it survive without Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum?

#Heidi Klum #TimGunn “#ProjectRunway”  initially launched on #Bravo (owned by NBC Universal) in December of 2004, not long after Weinstein started dating fashion designer Georgina Chapman. In the heady days of reality TV’s ascendance, it was a sleeper hit. The series has been nominated for Emmys every single year it’s been on the air, as well as a Peabody Award. But the drama behind the scenes at “Project Runway” has always matched the spectacle in front of the camera, from Weinstein taking the show to Lifetime because he felt Bravo wasn’t paying enough to the lawsuit from NBC Universal that followed. Not to mention Lifetime's entire “Project Runway” cottage industry of spinoffs, like the short-lived "Under the Gunn." Now, Bravo has swooped in to buy back the hit from Weinstein’s former company. But with some of the most visible cast members walking, and the show already a shell of its former self, can the series once dubbed “The Greatest Show On Earth” by its fans ri

Heidi Klum's Shrek Halloween costume deserves an Oscar (seriously)

And the Oscar for Best Halloween Costume of 2018 goes to ... Heidi Klum. The "America's Got Talent" judge has always reigned supreme over Halloween, but this year her "Shrek" costume proved to be extra magical (with a hint of fairy-tale dust). Klum chose Princess Fiona as her green inspiration, she revealed on  Instagram  Wednesday, and no, the former "Project Runway" host did not simply put a mask over her famous face. Instead, the model underwent what looks like  hours  of prosthetics and makeup for her pitch-perfect ogre princess. Klum's boyfriend of six months, Tom Kaulitz,  was similarly adorned  in mega-green as Shrek. Her previous epic costumes include last year's  Michael Jackson "Thriller" look , the time she dressed  as Jessica Rabbit , and year she went as an old woman. "You have to feel amazing in (your costume)," she told USA TODAY  recently . "You look in the mirror and you’re like, ‘Yeah, that’s

Heidi Klum Really Puts Her Foot in It With Creepy Halloween Costume Tease (Video)

Way to take the next step in building up anticipation for your Halloween costume this year, Heidi Klum. “America’s Got Talent” personality and mistress of disguise Klum offered another glimpse of her Halloween costume on Monday, delivering a creepy tease of this year’s get-up. “Putting my best foot forward this #HeidiHalloween thanks to @prorenfx,” Klum, whose Halloween costumes have become an annual obsession thanks to their elaborate nature, wrote on her social media accounts. “Any guesses?! You’ll find out soon enough! #TwoMoreDays #CantWait.” A video accompanying her tease suggested that this year’s costume, in addition to having two sets of teeth , will sport at least one grotesquely swollen foot. Which was featured slowly rotating in the video like something out of a Ryan Murphy fever dream. While Klum’s clue was guarded, it sparked plenty of speculation in the comments section of her post. Multiple people guessed that Klum would be celebrating Oct. 31 as the Statue of Liber

Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano take over for Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn on Project Runway

Talk about a whole new look! When Project Runaway returns in 2019, it will be on a different network and feature different hosts. It was announced this summer that the reality competition show was moving from Lifetime back to its original network, Bravo. And in September, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn announced they were leaving the series to launch their own Amazon Studios project. Now we know who will be taking their place for season 17: Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano. Kloss will also serve as executive producer. In addition, Elle editor-in-chief Nina Garcia will return as a judge — but this time she’ll be sitting next to fashion designer Brandon Maxwell and journalist and former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth. “As someone who grew up watching Project Runway, I could not be more excited to host and produce a series that provides a platform to aspiring American designers as they pursue their creative and entrepreneurial dreams,” Kloss says in a statement released t

Heidi Klum Confirms Project Runway's Move from Lifetime to Bravo Was a Factor in Her Exit

Heidi Klum  is opening up about the reasoning behind her departure from  Project Runway . “I felt it was time to leave,” Klum, 45, told PEOPLE while promoting her partnership with Perfectil USA, the U.K.’s top hair, skin and nails vitamin. “The show got moved from Lifetime, and I loved them. These people have worked super hard for many years. I thought with the network switch, I thought maybe it is time, maybe it is a sign to move on and let  Project Runway  walk by itself.” Last month, Klum and  Tim Gunn  — who have co-hosted the reality fashion design competition series since 2004 —  announced that they were leaving  after 16 seasons. “After 16 incredible seasons, I am saying ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ to  Project Runway , a show that I was honored to host and help create,” Klum said in a statement. “I am incredibly proud of the show, and it will always have a special place in my heart. I am so appreciative of the dedicated fans, and most of all, I am grateful that we could shine a
