Within this massive footprint known as the Playa, artists, designers, technologists, and their creative collaborators mount dozens of otherworldly and ambitious art installations—recent years have included everything from a 55-foot-tall steel sculpture of a woman lit by 3,000 LEDs to a group of massive rainbow mushrooms made from corrugated plastic.
