NFL and Chargers interested in team possibly moving to London

#NFL #London #Chargers #LosAngeles After years of regular success with its games in London, the NFL might be considering taking its overseas relationship with the city one step further. Interest is picking up with the league, the Los Angeles Chargers and the rest of the NFL’s owners in possible move by the team to London, according to a report from The Athletic’s Vincent Bonsignore: The Athletic has learned through NFL sources that the possibility of the Chargers moving to London has been broached among league personnel. The Athletic also has learned that, while the team is fully committed to Los Angeles where it will move into the new $4.5 billion stadium with the Rams next year, the Chargers would at least listen if the NFL approached them about about London as a possible option. Finally, The Athletic has learned that NFL owners are concerned enough about the Chargers’ situation in L.A., where a crowded sports market and the presence of the more established Rams has resul

Drew Rosenhaus: Going to Bills wasn’t up to Antonio Brown to decide

#AntonioBrown #Raiders  #NFL The trade sending Antonio Brown to the Raiders isn’t official yet, but an agreement is in place for the wideout to land with a new team and sign a new contract when he gets there. Brown’s desire for a new contract that would make him the league’s highest-paid receiver was seen as the biggest obstacle to a deal with the Bills that was in play late last week. During a Sunday appearance on NFL Network, Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said the Bills “decided it wasn’t a great fit for them” while talking to the Steelers and that the decision not to move forward didn’t come down to his client. “You know what, I don’t know that there was ever an option for us, quite frankly,” Rosenhaus said. “We never got in that position. It really wasn’t something that was up to us to decide. I don’t think the Steelers and the Bills were able to work something out.” Rosenhaus said Brown was happy about the “fresh start” he’s getting with the Raiders and cited head coach J

How fast is Antonio Brown's trade value dropping?

#AntonioBrown  #PittsburghSteelers #NFL I’m not the only one who thinks that. I just heard Adam Schefter on ESPN say, “Maybe he’s trying to [act out] to intentionally to lower the return.” Schefter and Louis Riddick agreed that the potential return for Brown is decreasing every day. Peter King concurs, writing on NBCsports.com, “The more Antonio Brown tweets, the more he scares off potential suitors. That’s not just something I think. In the case of one team, it’s something I know.” “I’d be shocked if a team gave up a [first-round pick],” Schefter said. “You’re talking about a player who’s raised a lot of question marks. … There’s not a team in the league that’s going to be willing to give up a one at this point in time.” Riddick: “I think [the return is] on a sliding scale, and I think the scale is sliding downward. It’s becoming a buyers market.” Schefter: “Mr. Big Chest here is looking for a war chest of money. … The more he talks, the more he’s on social media, the

Antonio Brown says no new deal without guaranteed money

#AntonioBrown  #PittsburghSteelers #NFL Antonio Brown is making his trade request about his contract. The embattled Pittsburgh Steelers receiver said on an Instagram video that he's not playing without more guaranteed money. Brown has told the Steelers he wants to be dealt and is using social media to reinforce that desire. "If your squad out there want to win and your squad want a hungry wide receiver who's the best in the whole world, someone hit my phone," Brown said into his phone camera while working on an elliptical. "Tell them I ain't doing no unguarantees. I ain't even gonna play myself no more for this NFL, you heard." Brown has no more true guarantees left on his current deal. The five-year, $72.7 million extension he signed in 2017 includes base salaries of $12.625 million, $11.3 million and $12.5 million. Those relatively modest numbers are considered a selling point in a trade. Brown is due a $2.5 million roster bonus on March

NFL power rankings: Who follows Super Bowl champion Patriots in final poll?

#NFL #PowerRankings #SuperBowl 1. Patriots (7): What's left to say? Definitively the greatest dynasty in NFL history, even on heels of subpar (by their standards) regular season. Now in a race with Pittsburgh to be first seven-time Super Bowl champions. 2. Saints (1):They got shafted. Period. In retrospect (or forespect?), who wouldn't have preferred a New England-New Orleans, Brady-Brees Super Bowl LIII? 3. Chiefs (4): They've also got strong argument for finishing second in final 2018 power rankings poll after taking eventual champs to OT in AFC title game. 4. Rams (3): Great season. But Super Bowl flop, Todd Gurley mystery, Jared Goff's postseason struggles, non-call in New Orleans deservedly knock them down. 5. Chargers (6): Could best Bolts team in recent memory be even better in 2019 with full seasons out of DE Joey Bosa and TE Hunter Henry? 6. Colts (8): GM Chris Ballard has most cap space in NFL (more than $100 million projected) and three of dra

14 NFL records that could be broken by end of 2018 season

We may refer back to the NFL's 2018 campaign as one of the more memorable in the league's 99-year history. (Perhaps you caught Chiefs-Rams on Monday night?) At a time when so many strong teams seemed headed for (hopefully) more memorable encounters once the playoffs roll around, we've also seen a variety of fresh and still-not-fading stars track toward unprecedented regular-season performances. Some seem destined to rewrite the record book, while others will require a Herculean push over the next six weeks to stake a claim. Here are just a few league marks that could come crashing down by season's end: Touchdown passes Kansas City phenom Patrick Mahomes remains in striking distance of Peyton Manning's single-season record (55 in 2013) after adding six Monday night and pushing his total to 37 through 11 games. At his current rate, Mahomes is on track to fire 54 TDs, though December's weather could be an obstacle given he'll play three games at Arrowhe

Maroon 5 to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime

Maroon 5 will be the halftime performers at the 2019 Super Bowl, two sources confirm to Variety. Reached for comment, an NFP rep tells Variety, “It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with [longtime sponsor] Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.” A rep for Maroon 5 could not immediately be reached for comment. While the group is stylistically more similar to recent performers like Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars than more controversial ones such as Beyonce and Lady Gaga, Maroon 5’s most recent hit was a tag-team with Cardi B — “I Like It,” named one of the top songs of the summer by recent streaming service charts —  and it recently collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the song “Don’t Wanna Know,” so some left-field guest appearances on Super Bowl Sunday are certainly a possibility. One of the great challenges in choosing a halftime performer

NFL Week 8 Grades: Browns get 'D' in Hue Jackson's last game; Jameis Winston gets an 'F'; Pats earn 'B-'

Whether it's a relationship, a friendship or an old pair of jeans, we've probably all held on to something longer than we probably should have, and it's starting to feel like that's what the  Buccaneers  are doing with  Jameis Winston .  It's easy to see why the Bucs don't want to give up on Winston: He's a former No. 1 overall pick who's supposed to be the team's quarterback of the future. However, if Winston has proven one thing this season, it's that he probably shouldn't be the starting quarterback for the Buccaneers anymore, and if that wasn't clear to Bucs coach Dirk Koetter before this week, you'd like to think it became clear after Winston's four-interception meltdown during Tampa Bay's 37-34 loss to the  Bengals on Sunday.  Winston single-handedly cost Tampa the game and he did it by throwing interceptions that no  NFL  quarterback should ever throw. For instance, this first quarter pick was thrown directly in
