Martha Elaine Wash (born December 28, 1953) is a two time Grammy nominated American R&B, pop, soul, and house singer and songwriter with a career spanning over thirty years.
Wash began her music career as a backing singer for Sylvester.

With fellow backing singer Izora Rhodes, she was half of Two Tons O' Fun, who would later be renamed The Weather Girls. As such, they were responsible for providing much of the firepower behind several of Sylvester's earliest releases often their voices were mixed so that Sylvester was actually the background singer and Wash's and Rhodes's voices were up front.

Later, when the Weather Girls disbanded, Wash continued to lend her vocals to various dance and house music tracks. Several of them became massive pop, R&B, and dance hits. She sang lead vocals on all three of Black Box's U.S. top-forty hits, including the top-ten smashes "Everybody Everybody" and "Strike It Up," as well as "I Don't Know Anybody Else," which charted at No. 23 in the United States.

Wash, however, was not featured in any of the music videos as it was customary for Katrin Quinol, a French model, to be used to lip-sync the lyrics. All three of these hit singles continued to receive regular club-play and mainstream radio airplay as of late April 2010. In addition, Wash sang lead vocals on the lesser-known Black Box tracks, "Fantasy," which charted at No. 5 in Great Britain, "Open Your Eyes," and "Hold On." All six of these songs appear on the Black Box album Dreamland.

Also, she performed uncredited lead vocals on Seduction's "You're My One and Only (True Love)," and lead vocals on C+C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991. Listen in HQ+Sound the album version of Carry On, released 1992.

Carry On - Songwriters: Eric S. Beall

I stand alone in the eye of the storm Pressures all around Tryin' to wear me down But it's all right I won't give up the fight I said, "Lord, lift me up!" Let me rise above I'll never Nobody's gonna take my pride I won't stop I will not be denied Carry on When the valley's deep I'll be strong With a mighty love to carry on, carry on I'll never sleep till the new day dawns I carry on I won't let, I won't let nothing hold me No, no I won't let Won't let nothing hold me back I won't stop now Carry on, I'll carry on Yes, I'll carry I'll carry on, yeah Yes I'll carry Carry on, I'm gonna carry on Yes, I'll carry Carry on Don't carry on without me I said I'll never Nobody's gonna take my pride I won't stop I will not be denied Carry on When the valley's deep I'll be strong with the mighty love to Carry on, carry on I'll never sleep till the new day dawns

Why Christopher Reeve's ''Superman' Is So Hard to Leave in the Past

#ChristopherReeve #Clarkkent #DCcomics #LoisLane #RichardDonner #Superman Forty years ago, Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve made a Superhero film that directors have been chasing for years, depicting who America was then — or at least who we wished to be Superman. It’s now easy to believe a man can fly. It wasn’t in 1978, but today, in midst of an explosion of superhero movies, it’s a belief we give into with relative ease. Flight is most often the bare minimum of what we expect from heroes and villains who can perform any feat limited only by the human imagination. It’s not simply special effects that permit our belief, but rather an overall acceptance that these costume-clad characters are a defining part of our culture, modern myths at their best and populist cinematic staples akin to the 20th century western at their lowest form. There have been a record nine theatrically released superhero movies based on comic books this year alone, each claiming a major piece of the glo...
