Over 20 years after his groundbreaking VH1 talk show ended, RuPaul Charles is getting another shot at hosting his own chat program — this time on network television.
The iconic drag performer, 58, will host a new daytime television talk show for Fox, the network announced Tuesday.
Aptly titled RuPaul, the show will air Monday through Friday for a limited three-week run beginning June 10, and will be broadcast on select Fox stations including WNYW Fox-5 in New York and KTTV Fox-11 in LA.
“Now more than ever before we need a global voice that will help everyday people navigate this unique time in history,” Charles said in a statement. “Not only do I want to be a part of that conversation, I want to help facilitate it.”Viewers can expect to see RuPaul’s “distinctive voice, exceptional interview skills, passion for helping others” on display in the show, according to a release.
“Entertaining and heartfelt in everything he does, the show will feature Charles’ modern take on the talk format,” the network says. “He will showcase his aspirational message with celebrity and newsmaker interviews, along with empowering everyday people to become their best selves. His sense of beauty, make-up and style will make the runway work for everyone. Charles’ 20-plus years interviewing and coaching along with his own evolution in music, fashion, style and media will inspire audiences daily.”

The show comes at a busy time for Charles.
He, of course, hosts, judges and executive produces RuPaul’s Drag Race, the acclaimed drag queen reality competition series to find the “America’s next drag superstar,” for which he has won two outstanding reality show host Emmy awards (in 2016, 2017 and 2018). The show, which also picked up an Emmy for outstanding competition reality series in 2018 and airs on VH1, is currently in its 11th season and has produced four seasons of an all-star edition (titled RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars).
A British offering is debuting next year. RuPaul will host, judge and executive produce that as well.
In addition to his drag appearances, books, and related album releases, Charles is also a judge on CBS’s The World’s Best. He and friend Michelle Visage co-host a weekly podcast called RuPaul: What’s The Tee?, too.

Charles — who married his partner of 25 years, Georges LeBar, in 2017 —  began his career as RuPaul in the club scene in the late ’80s, before growing to become the most commercially successful drag queen of all time.

His first talk show, The RuPaul Show, debuted on VH1 in 1996, making Charles the first openly gay host of a national television program in the United States. Throughout it’s two-season run, the show produced over 100 episodes featuring celebrity guests, including (most notably) Charles’ idol, Diana Ross.
Meanwhile, Charles’ new show RuPaul won’t be the only show running in local Fox stations. The network is also known for airing The Wendy Williams Show and The Real in syndication.

Why Christopher Reeve's ''Superman' Is So Hard to Leave in the Past

#ChristopherReeve #Clarkkent #DCcomics #LoisLane #RichardDonner #Superman Forty years ago, Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve made a Superhero film that directors have been chasing for years, depicting who America was then — or at least who we wished to be Superman. It’s now easy to believe a man can fly. It wasn’t in 1978, but today, in midst of an explosion of superhero movies, it’s a belief we give into with relative ease. Flight is most often the bare minimum of what we expect from heroes and villains who can perform any feat limited only by the human imagination. It’s not simply special effects that permit our belief, but rather an overall acceptance that these costume-clad characters are a defining part of our culture, modern myths at their best and populist cinematic staples akin to the 20th century western at their lowest form. There have been a record nine theatrically released superhero movies based on comic books this year alone, each claiming a major piece of the glo...
