Amazon Prime Members Can See Aquaman Movie 5 Days Early

Fans who just can't wait to see DC's upcoming #Aquaman solo movie will have an opportunity to screen it early, provided they subscribe to #AmazonPrime To say that Warner Bros. and #DCFilms have had a hard time trying to match the success of Disney and Marvel Studios' shared superhero movie universe would be an understatement. The MCU has continually trounced the DCEU in both critical sentiment and box office take, but at the same time, that's not to say that the #DCEU entries released so far have outright flopped.

Despite the divisive reactions to Zack Snyder's films Man of Steel and Batman V Superman, they certainly found their share of admirers, with BVS, in particular, standing as the highest-grossing DCEU movie to date. David Ayer's Suicide Squad was a similar story, getting bashed by critics, seemingly splitting DC devotees down the middle, yet earning nearly $800 million worldwide. Wonder Woman still stands as the first DCEU entry to draw critical praise, and was also a hit, coming just shy of BVS' numbers. The only real financial disappointment has been Justice League (the DCEU's lowest-grossing title so far), but it's likely that film's infamously troubled production and polarizing director swap played into that.

Despite the DCEU's ups and downs, fans remain committed to the franchise and are always hoping for the best. DC's next shot at redemption comes with next month's Aquaman solo movie, featuring Jason Momoa reprising the role he previously played in Justice League. While fans had many complaints about Justice League, Momoa's performance wasn't one of them. Reaction to the trailers and marketing so far has been fairly positive, and if nothing else, director James Wan's film looks to be a visual feast. Aquaman swims into theaters on December 21 (with the usual preview screenings on the 20th), but according to Release News, Amazon Prime subscribers will be offered the chance to screen the film 5 days prior to that, on Saturday, December 15.

The Amazon Prime advance screenings of Aquaman will be held at 7pm on December 15, at participating theaters nationwide. Theater chains said to be taking part include Regal Cinemas, Cinepolis, Bow Tie Cinemas, ArcLight, Showcase Cinemas, and Studio Movie Grill. Notably, AMC Theatres (the U.S.' largest theater chain) isn't listed in the above report, so those looking to try and use their AMC Stubs A-List benefits to see Aquaman early look to be out of luck. Cinemark Theaters, the third-largest chain, is another notable omission. Tickets are expected to become available for Prime members to purchase soon.

Notably, while these screenings are 5 days before Aquaman arrives in U.S. theaters, they'll actually be happening after the film debuts in most foreign markets. Many had been expecting Warner Bros. to eventually move the stateside date forward to more closely align with the rest of the world, but for whatever reason, they never opted to do so. Perhaps this Amazon deal was already in the works and played a part in that decision. Either way, Arthur Curry will make his way into theaters soon, hopefully to a positive reaction.

Kate Bush, The Dreaming : A Pitchfork Review

#KateBush # WutheringHeights # Lionheart # NeverforEver #TheDreaming In 1982, Kate Bush’s daring and dense fourth album marked her transformation into a fearless experimental artist who was legible, audibly very queer, and very obviously in love with pop music. In 1978, Kate Bush first hit the UK pop charts with “Wuthering Heights” off her romantic, ambitious progressive pop debut The Kick Inside. That same year, her more confident, somewhat disappointing follow-up Lionheart and 1980’s Never for Ever had a grip of charting singles that further grew her UK success without achieving mega-stardom—she barely cracked into American college rock. What is truly amazing between the first chapter of her career and the new one that began with 1982’s The Dreaming is how consistently Bush avoided the musical world around her, preferring to hone and blend her literary, film, and musical inspirations (Elton John, David Bowie, and Pink Floyd) into the idiosyncratic perfection that was 1985’s Ho
