Amazon’s biggest-selling item on Cyber Monday? Take a guess

Pick up any good bargains on Cyber Monday? Amazon has just announced it as the single biggest shopping day (in terms of the number of items sold) in the company’s history, with millions of people hitting its site to make the most of the day’s discounts and offers. In the U.S., the best-selling item at Amazon.com on Monday was the all-new Echo Dot smart speaker, with “millions” sold, though Amazon declined to offer a specific figure. Other top sellers included Bose QC 25 noise-canceling headphones, the multi-use Instant Pot Duo, Michelle Obama’s Becoming autobiography, and the Jenga game. Across the five days from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, Amazon said customers ordered a staggering 180 million items via its U.S. site alone. Globally, customers ordered more than 18 million toys and more than 13 million fashion items on Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined, the company said. The Echo Dot speaker was a big hit around the world, too, becoming the biggest-selling product on...

Pearl Claims She Was Banned from 'RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars' in Retribution for Interview Comments

Last week, season seven “Drag Race” runner-up Pearl unintentionally stirred a few pots when she confided to Hey Qween that RuPaul had told her “nothing you say matters unless that camera is rolling.” Pearl now claims that the comments spun off into “incredibly overly dramatized and exaggerated” headlines saying that she’d “dragged” RuPaul, exposing Mama Ru as an elitist who doesn’t care about the up-and-coming queens, when her intent was simply to explain why she’d been aloof on the show. Pearl did use the phrase “so Hollywood, rotted, and gross” (see the clip here): We were filming a segment, just kind of chatting, bantering together. Then the camera went down for a moment, and I turned to RuPaul and said, ‘Oh my god, I just wanna say thank you so much, like, it’s such an honor to be here, such a pleasure to meet you,’ just giving her everything I ever wanted to say. She turned to me and said, ‘Nothing you say matters unless that camera is rolling.’ That broke my spirit, and t...

JFK Airport scanner could let passengers keep laptops in their bags

A new 3-D scanner being tested at New York’s JFK Airport could finally allow travelers to keep laptops and liquids in their bags. The futuristic contraption — dubbed a computed tomography (CT) scanner — went into use Wednesday at the airport’s American Airlines terminal, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said. The state-of-the-art machine creates a 3-D image of luggage that TSA officials can rotate on a screen to see past clutter in carry-on bags and is better at detecting explosives, including liquid ones, Farbstein said Thursday. The added visibility means people will no longer have to dredge up their MacBooks or chug their water in the security line. “CT technology improves detection capability by more effectively detecting threats, thereby increasing overall security effectiveness,” American Airlines, which partnered with the TSA to debut the machine, said in a statement. “In the future, CT could offer the opportunity for passengers to leave liquids, gels, and aerosols, as...

If you don't know where your romaine came from, don't eat it, says CDC

NEW YORK — It's OK to eat some #Romaine lettuce again, U.S. health officials said. Just check the label. The Food and Drug Administration narrowed its blanket warning from last week when it said people shouldn't eat any romaine because of an E. coli outbreak. The agency said Monday the romaine linked to the outbreak appears to be from California's Central Coast region. It said romaine from elsewhere should soon be labeled with harvest dates and regions, so people know it's OK to eat. People shouldn't eat romaine that doesn't have the label information, the #FDA said. For romaine that doesn't come in packaging, grocers and retailers are being asked to post the information by the register. Romaine harvesting recently began shifting from California's Central Coast to winter growing areas, primarily Arizona, Florida, Mexico and California's Imperial Valley. Those winter regions weren't yet shipping when the illnesses began. The FDA also note...

Jaden Smith Reaffirms Tyler, The Creator Is His Boyfriend

#JadenSmith is doubling down on his own news.  Earlier this month, the 20-year-old rapper took the stage at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, where he professed his love to the carnival's famous founder, #TylertheCreator.  "I just want to say Tyler, the Creator is the best friend in the world and I love him so f--king much," Smith screamed into the mic, as captured in a viral clip. "And I want to tell you guys something. I want to tell you. Tyler doesn't want to say, but Tyler's my mother f--king boyfriend, and he's been my mother f--king boyfriend my whole f--king life. Tyler, the Creator is my f--king boyfriend. It's true."  The camera then panned to the 27-year-old fellow rapper, who wagged his finger in the air as if to say no and shook his head before laughing.  The Syre star also tweeted at Tyler, writing in a since-deleted tweet, "Yup @tylerthecreator I Told Everyone You Can't Deny It Now." "Hahaha," he tweeted ba...
